The Cat and the Canary

One afternoon the canary sat in it's cage, unaware of the cat crouched behind the couch. The cat was waiting for the right moment to pounce...

After waiting a long time, the cat finally leapt from his hiding place and jumped at the canary's cage. He had knocked it over on the floor and the door of it had come open. So the canary flew from the cage and out the window with the cat not far behind him. The canary had to hide in a close-by tree as the cat ran towards him.

The cat jumped at the tree and started to climb. The canary went to a higher branch. But as the cat was halfway up the tree, he fell to the ground and got a prickle in his paw.

"Ow! ow! ow!" yelled the cat. "What happened to you?" asked the canary coming to a lower branch.

"I've got a prickle in my paw!" yelled the cat.

"Pleeease get it out! Pleease!" yelled the cat again.

"I don't know," said the canary. "If you do I'll never, ever hurt you or do a anything to you again!" said the cat. "Well," the canary thought. "Ooowww!" said the cat.

"Okay," said the canary.

So the canary flew down from where he was sitting and told the cat to hold his paw out. He pulled as hard as he could and he finally got the prickle out of the cats paw.

But as soon as the canary turned to fly back to the house, the cat snapped at him. Luckily, he missed and the canary got away. But the cat never kept his promise.

The moral of this story is, if your a canary, don't trust a pouncing cat!
